About Peter Benn Motors

Peter Benn Motors is situated in the heart of Uitenhage, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
In 1990 the company opened its doors as a Service Garage and later expaned into the trade of Pre-owned Vehicles.
The opportunity for Peter Benn to have worked in the auto transport industry sparked the idea of making one of his dreams come true, namely to start his own transport company.
During the year 2000 Peter was offered to sub contract for the well-known Forecourt. He started off with one car carrier and after the contract had ended he decided to start his own transport company.
This was the beginning of Peter Benn Motors Transport (PBM Transport) which nowadays is one of the nation’s leaders in the auto transport industry.
It started out as a small family-owned and operated business, and even though PBM Transport has grown into a leader in the auto transport industry, delivering more than 1 000 vehicles per month, they still are the same family-owned and operated business.
Peter’s wife, Irene joined the PBM Transport division during 2002, handling all the bookings and owing to her business skills, the transport business expanded rapidly. The need soon arose to employ more people and Morney Kemp was appointed as the transport co-ordinator. Peter and Irene’s second son, Brendan, also joined the transport business and is currently the transport yard manager. PBM Transport has created employment for more than 20 people.
“We realize that in today’s market, choosing the right company to transport your vehicle can be a bit challenging,” said Irene.
PBM Transport currently has 18 long distance transport haulers covering the outskirts of South Africa. They transport a wide variety of vehicles, from insurance claimed damaged vehicles to luxury and extravagant brands like Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Maserati’s to name a few.
“People sometimes get confused, seeing the damaged vehicles on PBM Transport carriers and think we sell these cars, but we only transport them for the various insurance companies.
“Only 30% of our transport content consists of these damaged vehicles, the majority (70%) are new, as good as new, extravagant or vintage vehicles,” said Irene.
The fact that PBM Transport has no depot needed, as all 18 transport haulers are constantly on the road, is proof of the success of this family-owned transport business. The relatively small parking area next to Peter Benn Motors in Durban Street is used mainly for servicing purposes. “Our transport specialists have for the past 14 years worked hard to earn the trust of our clients. We treat each and every transport like we’re hauling one of our family members’ vehicles,” said Irene.
In 2005 a Valet Service was added to the list of services. A rollback unit is available for transporting damaged or recovered stolen vehicles. We offer free storage of towed in vehicles.
